If you are interested, I can post some of my stuff but I am not a mountaineer. I generally do slightly earlier stuff here in the western Great Lakes. Many of these guys went and spent time west, but I am not a mountaineer.

Post what you've got, Isaac, we'd like to see it.
I've got to try and resize some of my pics, I tried attaching them but it says they're too large. I'll see what I can do, but I'm a complete computer dolt, so I'm not promising anything.

I resize mine with Paint. I right click the picture and choose Open With Paint. Once opened, I go to Resize, then type in 25%, rename the photo and click Save.

In a week and a bit from now, I will be going out on a little hunting outing and will take some photos of my gear then. I will be going 1790-1810ish company man (or former co. man now gen libre) out hunting in the NW. Hopefully I will also have my new pouch and horn done for then. I need to dye some quills tonight to get going on that!! Until then, here are some random pics that show me and gear at different times. I will focus on my later Great Lakes fur trade stuff and not the earlier stuff I do... Me on the left walking with ma belle femme at Grand Portage. I am stripped down to the voyageur basics... simple leggings and clout, shirt, and bandannoe on the head. As a partner of the NWCo later that weekend... Provisioning for our canoe trip this summer... Two of us breaking before the canoe trip (our gear is to the right) off and going in the canoe 1805... Portaging... voyageur ca. 1805, wearing trousers here but rolled up for in and out of the canoe... Making rubbaboo for supper... I am scooping pemmican from a bison rawhide (hair on) taureau... Gambling at the post...

Here are some wintertime pics from 2 years ago... Pulling the toboggan into the woods (NORTHERN MN) Lighting up on a pipe break (that WAS a new capot, not so pretty anymore)... Filling in a ditch so the wintering partner/clerk can pull his toboggan over... just a photo... Morning around camp... Another day... out moving some beaver and rat traps around...

Hey Pare, I owed you an email, but here are some pics of what I was working on last winter, getting ready to make new leggings and mocs since the ones in this pic are recycled if you will from my eastern kit.

Nice gear, guys!
I like Leif's specs. I traded a steelyard for a pair from the 1840s. I don't wear glasses, but they were pretty cool. Besides, I have three steelyards...
Ike always posts the coolest pictures of the post & friends. That is a fine capote you made, too!!
Luke! Where ya' been?! Good to see you posting here. Everything you have looks great. Especially that Patterson!
How come my pictures came out so small compared to others? I'll have to work on that...

good looking traps. what is the trap with one long spring? That is what we sometimes call a leafspring trap. Historically, it was more likely called a gin trap. They were first imported from England in smaller sizes and were "rat traps." Here in North American they were used as "rat traps" but with the rat being muskrat At some point, they beefed up the size and used them for beaver to. There were even a few makers in Montreal like Isaac Veal making leaf-spring traps of various types. For the RMFT, Miller shows what appears to be this type of trap in some of his paintings. Rod, NICE traps, I am jealous!!!! I have one longspring and one leafspring for beaver and one rat trap, all made by Allen. I need to convert some modern longsprings yet and hope that someday I can get into a few more proper forged ones!!! I have seen a few nice ones by Hiram Hunter come up for sale recently but with the well, septic, and vehicles all taking a poo this year... no go on the money spending on traps front! IW
