By 1979 I had been shooting muzzleloaders and studying the RMFT since 1961 - my folks gave me a copy of DeVoto's Across the Wide Missouri for my birthday in January and when I saw that pic of Ole Bill Burrows (who looked like my Dad) my path was set for life. Then my Great Uncle, who used only muzzleloaders for hunting even after he returned from the War to End All Wars, introduced me to the wonderful world of BP that same fall. I started doing "re-enacting/living history" in 1968 and got real hardcore for the next 8-9 years or so..........
In 1979 I was working as tree faller and worked that year in SE Alaska for a while and then the Olympic Peninsula before wintering back in the Skagit Valley which was more or less home base. By then I wasn't doing much living history due to my work schedule along with dealing with my 3 year old son and a badly broken first marriage. I did trap/hunt beaver, rats, coyotes, and other critters during the off season on both the wet side and the dry side of the North Cascades using mostly "period" methods and gear.
As for the board being slow - well so far the folks that have joined up look to be a good and civil bunch and that's the way I'd like this place to be - besides I've always preferred quality over quantity.......
Being opinionated is one thing but being contentious and a butt head won't shine on this board as long as I run it anyway...
I've got a bunch more things to post in the PDF library but between a bout with some bloody bug last week and catching up with orders ( I've already out in 60 hours since last Monday)hasn't left me much time to "play".........and yes I will take some cheese with my whine ;D
