Duane I've always used spit or purchased pre-lubed patches. I have been wanting to make some homemade patch lube myself. I'm thinking from reading others recipes that mainly beeswax and some kind of oil is what is in most. I wanted some bear grease one time but couldn't get any and an old timer told me to just render down coon fat as they are omnivorous like a bear and would be the same thing. I haven't gone to those links yet but it's an option. Maybe someone else could enlighten us.

Hey Duane, I use beef tallow that I render myself as grease made from animal fat was often used for gun grease and patch lube. I prefer bear grease but bears are fearsome scarce hyar in NW Oklahoma. I have good results with it.

I had part of a jug of windshield washer fluid left after topping off a couple of vehicles. As I was having trouble generating enough saliva for a days shooting and both wwf and saliva are mostly water, well it works but still working on best load for a rebored and rifled barrel. Try it and let us know Shay you think.
