By request I'm posting a few pics of my new buckskin hunting frock. I didn't really want to advertise it to much seeing as how it's not a really nice frock like some of you can make but I guess that's just my foolish pride. I tanned three hides, using eggs instead of brains. These weren't the first hides I've tanned, I also tanned the two for my leggings, but doing three in a row like that really was a work out. Two of the hides were deer that I had shot and the third was one my father-in-law shot. I made my pattern from a wool frock that I have. I think I pulled out half my hair trying to figure this thing out, I'm no tailor at all or tanner for that matter but it should make a serviceable frock.

Wow Matt.....what's not to be appreciated about something you've made yourself.........once it gets greased up like your trousers....it'll be perfect and what you'd expect 175 years ago.........Nice!

Great job Matt! I wouldn't mind havin' it my own self! Like Doug said, all it needs is some breakin' in with grease and campfire smoke!!!

I agree that looks great, nice job. I also agree, needs some good smoking. Not only for looks but really for weather proofing and general leather conditioning.
