Although I like most of the AJM paintings, I especially like these two.... Just how many painters do a picture of their camp??? Not many....

I haven't been to Rendezvous in half a life time ago....but you never saw anything like wedge tents. Bakers and tepees!

You see lots of wedges at rendezvous today.....
But then again, you see lots of elk camps, 18th century camps, big trader marquee's and some bakers too.... Oh yes lots of tipi's.
And just out of sight at most, there are plenty of tin tipi's... (sometimes that's where you find me ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D)

I have to say that a tepee was a whole bunch better to live in..........I wish I'd been able to keep mine and we'd had one the 16 months we lived in the Walmart dome tent!

I've had a couple tipi's. I made a 14 foot one and painted it, but it didn't take very long to outgrow it. Then in the spring of 1973 I got one from RK Lodges. It was an 18 footer. I had rack for the top of my rig so I could haul the 24 foot poles. I really liked it, but the wife wanted a tin tipi..... You know what sits behind my garage

My Pard Steve has a wedge painted with blue stripes like the one in the second painting, you wouldn't believe the flack he got at a PPR.

Anymore, the PPR is being run by a bunch of ex hippie women....
They don't know nor do they care....
However, as long as the folks who do this seriously keep going, there will be pockets of what is correct... Just look at Rex Norman and his brother-in-laws camp.....

"Anymore, the PPR is being run by a bunch of ex hippie women...."LOL Sadly this is true. It's also attended by a bunch of ex-hippies. (naw, not me snicker..) There is hope though. There were a few pockets of authentic camps but you had to look hard to find them. I always get stuck on trader's row which I don't care for. I'd rather be back in the bushes where the real mountain men camp. Matt
