Finally got this one finished for Duane after a very long and patient wait The horn is well curved and is scraper finished - the spout wanted to shred (not atypical for buffalo) so I added an antler tip with a rawhide cover. The buttplug is a chuck of Ponderosa pine out of the woodpile and is also covered with rawhide to seal - it - hand cut, square shank iron tacks, which show up on some 1830's period trade lists. The shoulder strap is bark tanned cowhide with an antique (1860's) iron buckle with traces of Japanning still evident. The idea was to make a horn of a type that may have been built in camp during the long winter months.

Hey Chuck and Duane, I sure would like to see a picture of this horn if possible. Sounds like a really well executed horn.

Hey Chuck, I couldn't see the picture on my computer at work and that is when I added that post. Went home last night and pulled it up on my tablet and low and behold there was the picture! And what a beautiful piece of work that horn is! Duane is a fortunate fellow to have that horn!!! Thanks for posting it.
