Scott Sibley finished a bark-tanned bag for me the other night, which will go with the St. Louis powder horn and a powder measure copied from an original that is Seminole. Pare-

Thanks. I transferred everything over from my old bag and tied the horn and measures to it.

Was it pretty normal for a feller to attach his horn to his pouch? I like to carry mine criss cross because I can't pour powder with my left hand and I don't like my bag on my right side lol.

I think it just depended on the person, but quite a bit of the ones in collections or sold at auctions have the horn attached to the bag. It makes me wonder if they were sold that way at jumping off points like St. Louis, New Orleans or Ft. Smith.

Ian -don't sweat it. Both methods were used at the time and can be documented. Miller shows crossed straps for instance.
