Finally got around to making my version of a Miller type bag. This is my first bag attempt in 30+ years. I like the way it turned out, but am asking for input so the next attempt is better. I've been contemplating how to build this bag for a long time. Some of my considerations were, buckle type, double bag or single bag with an inner pouch, brain tan strap or veg tan, beading or no, lined or not. Asking questions here and researching printed and internet sources, this is what I came up with. I procured a nice heavily smoked braintan Muledeer hide from Ollie McCloskey, pound (size 8) beads from Shipwreck Beads and Larry and Cathy's beads in Carson City,NV. I used the coad recipe from Chuck's website as well as how to age the new veg tan leather i used for the strap. It is lined with walnut dyed ticking, has an inner bullet pouch, sewed up with waxed linen thread/twine, the beads are sewed on with waxed silk thread, forged iron buckle. Inspiration came mostly from Chuck with important input from Issac Walters and Luke MacGhillie here on this board. But mostly from Chuck and his advice he freely gives here as well as a knife blog he frequently offers free guidance. I also plagiarized the beading pattern from a photo of a painting on a Muzzleloader magazine cover.

Thanks Duane, I appreciate that. I made this one for my son. I'm gonna make the next one for myself, when my hands recover! I'll post a few more detailed photos soon. I had a ton of questions before I finally went ahead with the project. Maybe someone else also has those same questions and I can help pass along how I interpreted the answers I received here from some board members on this forum as well as other research venues. Please note, I'm still trying to figure it all out. Cheers, Doug T.

In the photo it looks bigger than it is. The bag measures 7" wide by 8.5 " tall. By the way, 30 seconds after I took the photo, the David Wright print crashed to the floor and broke the glass and the frame! Doug T.

That is a great looking bag, I've been planning to build one similar to that ever since the Muzzleloader came out with that on the cover. Not necessarily just like it, but inspired by that and Miller. Congratulations.
