been reading through Charles Hanson,The Hawken Rifle It's Place In History. On page 27 talking about some repairs done for Bill Sublet, dressing out rifle, moles & wipers to the new cock on the on lock,to percuseing the sillinder,& pees on the tang.does anyone know what is meant by pees on the tang.It is probably obvious, and I just can't see the forest for the trees..duane

Piece on the tang? Maybe repairing a broken tang?

Considering the context of the rest - the gun was being refurbished and converted - I took it to mean perhaps adding a piece to lengthen the tang which strengthens that most delicate part THE WRIST .
Now the one that confuses me is what is a "mole" - I'm sure it's not a furry little critter or a Mexican chocolate sauce.....

LOL,I wondered about that one as well, but after thinking about it,i think that he probably meant is the bullet Mold for the rifle,at least that is the only thing that I can think of..D

That makes sense especially if the barrel had been refreshed to a larger bore there would be a need for a new mold and wiper to match. Maybe mole is just a mis-interpretation from the original hand written order since old hand writing can be hard to decipher at times.
