When nature calls...

Being a farm kid we had to get creative somedays when nature came a calling. Our farm is two hours from home. It wasn't until later on, I believe I was in high school, we we started keeping a roll of TP in a coffee can in the vehicle. Is anyone aware of any references to how bathroom issues were dealt with out in the field? In my experience brome grass sure got used a lot as a kid.
