I took an old white/grey hat that I have had for almost 20 years (that has been shaped and used as many different hats) and reblocked, re shaped, shellacked, and added a new liner to it. Added a little pimped out decor and now I finally have my RMFT hat! The white ring is a beaver teeth ring. Cree and a few others make them (as well as rings of bear claws) as hunting charms. Nice little tip of the hat to the fact that I am hunting beaver and entered the RMFT through the Great Lakes and northern plains.

Nice hat! Did you make a block from wood? Any tips on how to make one. I have a hat that is slightly small and I'm wondering if I can re block it to make it a little more round in the crown. Also did you just use a clear shellac to stiffen it? Thanks.

Was round blocked. After many years, I remade it into a hat for 17th century and poured boiling water into it and reblocked it to a flat crown. To make this "new" RMFT hat, I did the same again with a new wood block to reshape it to a dome . You can likely do something similar to make yours fit. Shellac to stiffen... Yes!

I'll have to make up a block and give this a try. Thanks
