I recall seeing that someone, somewhere, on one of these threads (yeah, I got frustrated searching, and now I'll probably find it right away after posting this) mentioned that they've fire shot through a rifle. I'd like to know more about this as I only have a 1790s contract rifle. Do you load the shot the same way that you would a smoothbore or was something else done? Anyone who has done this before feel free to chime in.

That was me a couple of years ago on the muzzleloader campfire forum. I shoot shot out of my Henry trade RIFLE. Its a 32 to the pound or .54cal. I shoot #4 shot, same powder charge as for my ball. I don't load any fancy way, just old cloth patches. Not prefect cut & measured patches, just torn & stuffed. No store bought wads or the like. Just what you would have had out in the west. It shoots a pretty nice pattern. There should be a couple of images on that post.

I have wondered about shooting shot in my rifle as well,it is close copy of a J.J Henry Lancaster .54.good information, I am going to give it a try..Thx...D
