While we were at one of the 1840s sites that I am researching yesterday, my daughter found two pieces of lead, measuring 1/2" square and 1/8" thick. They had some numbers and letters on them, but I couldn't tell, so I rubbed some chalk on it and it looks like it says /4 OZ, /40/ or /407. Anyone have any ideas? I googled it, but haven't came up with anything yet. Sorry for no photo. I can't figure out how to attach one on here.
