Anyone got a decent image of the piece of leather used to hold the gun horizontally across the saddle - the small one with a slot at both ends that wraps around the fore end of the gun and hooks over the saddle horn? I know there's one in the MOFT Mtn Man Sketchbook, but I can't get to my copy right now and I am trying to explain to some one else where on line and a picture is worth a thousand words

It probably doesn't help, but there's a good sketch of one in Marcy, The Prairie Traveller. Shows it both mounted on the saddle, and laid out flat for a pattern. I don't know if this is available online or not.

My mistake, the illustration in Marcy only shows it attached to the saddle, not laid out flat. I'm trying to attach a couple of photos of mine, but haven't had much success. I'll see if this works. Rod

Well, they're tiny, but they're attached.
