Saw a book at the local museum for sale Early Fur Trade on the Northern Plains by wood and Thiesson Is it worth the $40 they want for it? WOW!!! Not sure what I paid, but $40 sounds high. It is a GREAT book though, especially for earlier stuff which I am interested in. I have referenced it countless times. IW

It's about what it's going for now, and worth every penny. If you have any interest in the fur trade of the Mandan, Hidatsa, & Arickara, and of the HBC & NWC in the late 1700s-early 1800s in the Dakotas, then you must have this book. It's a tremendous resource, I very highly recommend it.

You always have to consider your purchase will help the museum, but it's listed for $12, hardcover, on Amazon.
