Well, I got a pattern and started cutting out the pattern and laying on my brain tanned buck skin - I have all the leather necessary except for the cape - my question is should I just do the hunting frock without the cape until I can get another hide to work (I'm out of hides right now) or should I make a jacket with short fringe or perhaps just buy a small piece of german tan or brain tan for the cape?
Suggestions - I want to get a coat that would be proper from 1810 to 1830 and the caped frock is that.

If it were me, I'd find another piece of leather for the cape. Nothing like making something that you really want...ALMOST...and then regretting it later... Better to wait and do it right the first time, than hurry up and be stuck with something you may not be happy with later, but thats jsut my opinion...
