We got put on evacuation standby today 6/23 about 6:00 PM. A fire started about 4 miles south of us and the smoke has closed hwy 550. As of 8:25PM we're still here and waiting for more word. Anxious times but the humidity should rise and the SW winds that have been whipping up to 45 MPH are beginning to slow.
Keep your fingers crossed for us.........

I hope that it all turns out alright for you, and the fires stay away. I was out fighting a grass fire last week, today we got 2 1/2 inches of rain, so conditions can change pretty quickly.
Keep us informed...

Yep we're still here. They finally got it under control after 350+ acres burned, small compared to others around us. Ours was called the Stateline Fire and pics can be seen on the Durango Herald site. No rain here now for 7 weeks, humidity averaging 10% (as low as 3% and as high as 20% at night), plus lots of wind (avg 12MPH with gusts up to 75MPH), mainly out of the SW which comes in hot and dry so it's like living in a tinder box. Our place is mostly grass and brush, not many trees so even if a fire gets here things should be OK except for the heavy smoke, but............ Others are much worse, the Weber Canyon over by Mancos (about 30 miles west) is over 6,000 acres and even worse is the one nears Pike's Peak which has seen over 11,000 folks evacuated. It's a heart wave Martha for sure.........

Where at in Colorado Isaac?
Temps here yesterday were 97° F with 3% humidity and winds 15 - 30 MPH.
Went to town - Durango which sits in a bowl type valley and the smoke from the fires (3 local) was so bad you could hardly breathe - it was like standing in a chimney.
Here's a link with pictures of the fie that was within four miles of where I live and a half mile from where a good friend lives.

Hey Chuck, glad you and yours are fine... I sent a generator to a friend in Colorado Springs Saturday. I think that is a little east of you...He said..BAD!! No power for a while but they were outside of the burn.. The place his wife worked is now toast...Many people out of work and a lot of houses gone.... I'll take a good hurricane anyday over a fire.....Randy

We were staying in Copper but we ranged from Rocky Mtn. National and Steamboat Springs down to Salida and many parts in between. Ended up going home up through Loveland and went thru WY and then spent time in the Black Hills and Badlands of SD before making it home.
