Nice coat----the half lining is really intriguing.

That's a nice one! I don't recall seeing a quilled Cherokee coat before. Not saying that it isn't- just I've never seen one. Mainly what I've seen were beaded or thread embroidered. That's a REALLY cool one, Luke! Thanks for posting.

Cool stuff man... I wish I could see the back. The quillwork on it reminds me more of a metis coat than anything Texan or Cherokee but whatever! I have been really wanting to build a hide vest (likely more to wear modern as I can not really show it as historic to my interests) and would love to quill it similar to this. If only I had a pile of extra brain tan and a ton more time... IW

Yup... that is the only decorated hide vest I have seen within the time frame I consider "my history interest." I would love to see more and beg of anyone that has info on more to share, but have received no leads on this from others in the past, nor have I seen anything personally (besides the Crockett vest shown above) IW

Here's another picture. One is from the GL area. Don't know if its our time frame though.

Very cool. Thanks Pare. Most beaded and quilled vests I have seen are 1870s and on, I would love to know more collection history etc. on those you shared.

I'll go back and search the auction again. I don't recall which auction, but it may be Cowan's, that you can't save pictures from. But I found out that if you click and drag that picture to the bottom of your screen and release it, that it will open it up in a new window. From there you can save it.

This is from a French museum. I'll search through my notes for which museum. Pare-
