If you're talking a raw horn then it all depends on how rough the back end is - The last 14 incher I used wound up being a bit less than 12" overall so I now get the 16" from Eidnes Furs in order to get a 14" finished product. Gives you more leeway. One "problem" with buffler horns today is most are either cow or real young bulls and don't usually have the mass I like. If a finished horn - call me.....

Where is a good source for buffalo powder horns? Now that I am busy slaving away getting my hides brain tanned I am wondering where to get a good powder horn to go with the Lancaster Pattern Trade rifle facsimile that I have getting built Then I have to get a better bag for the period and then? ? Fun switching time periods and portrayals I guess.

Keith - do you want a made one or a raw one? If the former talk to me if the latter Eidnes Furs - they are on line although you have to call to order.....
But also remember cow horns were use in the west as well and show up on several trade lists as well as some made in teh west, especially the Southwest.....
