I am stealing the idea from another forum. What 19th Century fur trade items would be on your bucket list?
Mine: Minimum one week pack trip throught the back country, period correct. Bag an elk and buffalo with the Derringer flintlock. Primative canoe trip down one of Montana's rivers, Missouri, Clark Fork, Flathead, etc.
I think of more as this goes along. Probably steal some of your ideas.

I always wanted to run buffalo on horseback and dump a couple of cows with bare balls out of a NW gun.

Well... I was involved in the other list so I will repost (with some editing) here... This is all of what I love of the "hobby." For me... I do not like the "act" in reenacting. I, even when doing first person, want to portray as much of what and who I am as possible, and on the converse... I want to experience and live as much of what I can of my historical counterparts. Earlier this year, I listed some skills seen among wintering voyageurs in the NorthWest. frenchinwisconsin.yolasite.com/m ... -hivernaut I have been using that as a sort of check off, along with a variety of other things. Some of the things on my bucketlist... -Buffalo hunt with flint lock (in planning stage for next fall) -Do some good beaver trapping out of a historic camp with historic traps... and spend a good part of the day sitting around doing common chores... fleshing and stretching hides, cooking up from the carcasses, processing the castor into lure, smoking a pipe and doing some gambling.... I just got a nice leaf-spring trap from Allen Harrison and he is working on a longspring for me as well. These and some snares should get a few through the ice this winter... hopefully the camp will happen too! -Run more of a trapline on snowshoe and with my dog and toboggan. (likely will happen this winter too... if snow ever comes) -Do a historic trip on horseback (big list item... not planned or in foresee-able future) -Hunt moose with flinter (also not in the foreseeable future) - and on and on. AND... there are things on the list but are not legal to do (too bad) but I would love to try/experience. Spearing a bear in the den... spearing and netting beaver and muskrats... etc.

Ike, the next time we get together we need to talk about this! I have some similar desires, though I have never put them into a "list" so to speak.....
I have some bison farms near me, but I am sure they would frown on me running down there animals... HA
I keep applying for my MN once-in-a-lifetime moose hunt.... That will be done with muzzleloader, maybe a flinter, if I have my trade gun by then!
A historical horse trek would be awesome! I have a horsey friend out in MT. I hope to visit her some year during elk season!
I would love to have the time to do some trapping, but I do get out on snowshoes when we have snow (yeah we lost all of ours yesterday on this side of the river, too)
Say, did I tell you about the primitive biathlon we are having in Rochester on Feb 18? If interested I can post some info...
