Here are a couple of links on the life of Antoine Roubidoux. The French were a big part in the SW fur trade, and Antoine and his brothers were among the first tier of that group. Antoine's elder brother Joseph III likely held the purse strings and controlled the flow of goods from the Choteau family. Antoine was the key in the family's New Mexican trade, establishing forts trading with the Ute and cementing their connection with the New Mexican Government, becoming the first non-Mexican Alcalde in the province.
