A few years back, I made this recreation of a very fancy Leman that was illustrated in Kauffman's "The Pennsylvania-Kentucky Rifle" for a guy in California. Sorry for the fuzzy pictures... I'm a gunbuilder, not a photographer... I have put together a couple of Leman copies since then, but nothing this fancy.

Lloyd A number of years ago I was building my first Leman and fussing over exactly how to do the faux striping. As luck would have it I stumbled into a original Leman for sale. I couldn't afford it but Nesbitt was there and we agreed that we couldn't let it get away. Jack Brooks was our guest speaker at the gunmakers fair that year and was very impressed with the little gun. He said it had every option on it that he knew of and was a one off. Not part of a production run. My intention is to build a copy of this gun in .40 or .45. The real one is about .38. All I need now is some free time. Steve

Steve, The original is about .33 or .34. A .350" ball just sits on top of the muzzle. That's okay, it's still cool! Shoot sharp, Mike

I might add that Mike has already built a close copy of this little rifle and shoots it pretty well. As he does most of his guns. Steve

Steve, Thanks for your kind words. (It's about time I learned how to shoot...!) I'll be showing that .40 again at the Washington Gunmakers' doin's in two weeks. Shoot sharp, Mike
