Now that's some great information for a guy to have. Thanks for all the work of putting that together Isaac, looks really good.

Leifer Actually, Allen did most of the work (intial conversion and the ppt)... I just provided motivation and a lot of jibber-jabber back and forth to think out stuff. I have 4 #4s that should be to the house today that I need to mess with in the next few weeks. I will likely post more as I play with some swivel options and as Allen does more tinkering in the shop. Where'd you get your #4 traps?

Where'd you get your #4 traps? Garage sales, auctions, fleamarkets, online... Victors can be had fairly cheap. If you want a trap that is an even more correct start to convert... you may wish to get some #4 Newhouse. The posts on them are a bit more correct... but likely you will have to pay more for them than a Victor. Isaac

I've got some Newhouse #4's, but those things are getting to be collectable--and correspondingly expensive-- in their own right. I never could bring myself to convert them.

Once again, really good stuff. Many thanks Allen and Isaac. The problem is, now I'm starting to get just a couple projects going Leifer

Here's a Victor #3 I finished putting together tonight using the tutorial you guys put together. This was a fun project. The pan was made from a grain bin fan hole cover. I still need to weld the link next to the ring and to file down the welds in the middle of the links. This was the chain with the longest links that I could find in town... I have 4 more traps to do now Thanks again for the all the work on that tutorial! Leifer Attachments:

Good job! I wish there was a long link chain out there, easy to find, if there is I sure don't know about it. If you can spend some time rummaging through antique shops you can jackpot sometimes. I spotted some old chain awhile back, already rusted up and the welds were worn down, it was short link stuff, but I didn't have to do anything to it , and it was cheaper than home depot as well. No filing, no zinc removal , thats an option you might have.

Cool... that will be a nice fox grabber!
I have some nice chains now that Allen made and some pans to do some work on a few number 4s. I gotta get around to it. TOO much to do!
