Hay Doug, The Brown's have a pretty good herd just north of Priest River... I've got some relatives in Lubbock. I once had a black buddy from Albuquerque who's favorite song was "Happiness is Lubbock, Texas in my rearview mirror." My stepdad was from over in Portales.

Buffalo in Northern Idaho.........where's that Sharps!
Spent all my summers and two years out of high school in Quanah! Thought it was the greatest place on earth until I discovered girls and God......then I moved back to Colorado.

Lloyd,
That's a Mack Davis song and he actually comes around to missing his home town. I have not yet developed a taste for Lubbock. We came here from 8k' in the mountains surrounded by USFS land. Here we're two hours from the nearest place we can hike without getting shot for trespassing. So far, aside from steady work and a paycheck, the best thing I can say about Lubbock is that it is 2 hours from the NM border.
There is, however, a small bison herd about 2.5 hours away at Caprock Canyon St. Park. I'm also hearing that some of the FWS refuges down here in the High Plains are considering bringing in bison in the future. I highly doubt any of them would be excited about me chasing them down on horseback with a NW gun... On second thought, they'd probably be excited enough to call the law and slap me in the juzgado.

They do respond to voltage, though. Particularly multiple hot wires on the inside of a fence. What I've seen lately is 4' cross fencing between pastures and 6' perimeter fencing with 3 hot wires around the inside. Not cheap, but its not 8' welded pipe either.

They don't have a great deal of respect for horses either!
