Can't post pictures yet. My dial up is to slow.
Building a Smoothy for a good buddy, Building a .32 with a pupil, building Horns, and getting ready for the Washington Historical Gunmakers Guild gunmakers fair in two weeks. Other than that, just working around the ranch. Steve

Just finished a Leman .40 copy in flint and perc interchangeable locks. Have a 20 ga fowler LEFT hand coming up. Probably use an L&R Durs Egg on that (flint).

Another Northwest Gun, would you believe it? This one is a 20 gauge with a 20" barrel. Call it a canoe gun if you want to and it is from North Star West. But it doesn't use a canoe gun stock. So, it will have a longer length of pull than the NSW Canoe Gun. And, someday, I might shoot it from a canoe... Shoot sharp, Mike

I am just finishing up a .54 caliber Leman at Dave Dolliver's shop. I will post some pictures when I get it reassembled after final clean up.

I am hoping to do just that, Steve. We'll be doing the final re-assembly and a little adjustment of the hammer and trigger at Dave's shop tomorrow evening. See you at the Historical Gunmakers Guild event next Thursday, if not before.

I just bought a broken but stock off of an original gun for the parts .It has a patch box just like some of the original Lemans ,it is engraved as is the toe plate .It was a back action gun that lead me to believe it was'nt a Leman and also it had curly maple not stripped like the trade guns but through some research I discovered that Leman made some with back actions and some with curly maple stocks but the side plate looks like one that one of the leading part suppliers have listed as a Ohio type and the but plate seems too narrow ,some of the other traits lean that way as well .I am going to use the patch box for a Leman Im going to make for my son .Ill try to get him to post a picture for me ,maybe yall can shed some light on it for me yall seem pretty knoledgeable .

Currently... -researching to build a gun for my wife and daughters to use -Gearing up to hunt bear next week with flintlock smooth-bore -Waiting on some buffalo wool that my wife is going to spin into yarn -Thinking about making a new pouch... probably a Metis style two panelled bag -Want to get back to these hide leggings that I made this summer and recently stained with red ochre... I want to do some quillwork up the sides and do some decorative additions to the fringe... Isaac

Nice job on the leggings, Issac. I like the ocher stain. When you get them all quilled up, post a pic.

The ochre was a mess, but it looks sort of cool... and isn't the usual braintan look. I based the ochre of off the example that Catlin collected as well as a 18teens sketch done my Hamilton of an upper Mississippi River area legging that was also ochre-stained... both were of this tabbed and lower-leg fringed style. Isaac is always making something neat... I can imagine the mess that trying to stain those with red ochre would make... I tend to get paints and stains all over me.... Are you planning on quilling all the way up the side, or just on the flaps? I think I have seen those where the fringe was quill wrapped too.

I am currently working on trying to finish sewing up this fancy fowling patch that I am doing for the ALRA Western Gathering. This is my first attempt at painting on leather after seeing the beautiful painted pouch that Ron Scott did and is displayed on the CLA site.

Probably a line of false wrapped quill (my term for the sewn on but looking like a wrapped strip) all the way up the side, on the legging itself but along the seam. The fringe will likely get a bunch of deer dew claws, quill wrap, and perhaps some other stuff (horse hair??). We will see
